Background: I originally bought this car when I needed a daily
driver that I could use while I was restoring my 1968 mustang. I
like early falcon rancheros, so I found this one. I paid $2600, and
it was in worse mechanical shape than it is now. After some minor
repairs (fuses, lights, points, etc) I drove it as my daily driver for
around a year. It came in handy when I needed to transport a large
hunk of mustang (attached to quarter panel I needed) from modesto to santa
clara. I thought after I finished with my mustang I would fix it
up a little and keep it around for running parts and such. Alas,
I find that my mustang related projects take all my "automotive" time.
Also my space is limited and in practice I never use it enough to make
it worth the cost of insurance and registration. I also have a motorcycle
I can use when I'm working on my mustang, and it is cheaper to insure.
Time to simplify.

Does not require smog testing (per California SB42).
Some things wrong with it:
-
Spedometer does not work (probably broken speedo cable, I haven't looked
into it)
-
Radio (original, AM) does not work. I never looked at it. It
is the original unit. There are people who fix these things.
I know that working early mustang AM radios are valuable. I think
the radio in this car is probably the same.
-
Floor pans behind seats are rusty. The car is pretty much rust free
otherwise. The floor pans are the same as for a falcon wagon, and
water gets in from the panel that covers what would normally be the rear
seats are. I never took the carpet out, or the panel to take a close
look. If I was keeping it, I would probably cut this area out and
weld in a patch panel.
-
Parking brake does not work. The brackets that hold the cables to
floor pan have "ripped off". If I were to keep it, I was planning
on welded them back on.
-
Engine is tired, could use a rebuild. It runs well enough that if
I was keeping it I would probably just drive it for a while.
